The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) in Qatar announced the award of 13 new contracts worth QAR 12 billion ($3.3 billion) as part of its efforts to enhance road and drainage infrastructure, public buildings, and improve the quality of life in the country.

Ashghal President Eng. Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz Al Meer stated that the new contracts represent a strategic step towards enhancing the sustainability and integration of infrastructure and consolidating Qatar's leadership in this field. They will also contribute to supporting the economy within the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030, according to the Qatar News Agency (QNA) on Sunday.

Eng. Khalid Saif Al Khayareen, Director of Projects Affairs at Ashghal, explained that the awarded contracts include six key projects, most notably the construction and development of road networks and a number of educational, healthcare, and service buildings, in coordination with relevant government entities.

Eng. Ahmad Al Ahmad, Director of Assets Sector Affairs at Ashghal, confirmed that the awarded operation and maintenance contracts will contribute to improving the management of road and drainage networks and ensuring the sustainability of infrastructure assets.

Operation and maintenance work on road networks is expected to begin next October. Contracts will extend for five years for all projects, except for the Intelligent Transportation Systems project, which will extend for three years.

Sewerage network operation and maintenance projects are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026 and will rely on the latest innovations such as robotics and camera-equipped drones.
