"Scanner" to the port of Beirut to curb smuggling

Minister of Finance Yassin Jaber announced that the scanners will arrive at the port of Beirut by the end of next October, adding that there will be coordination and a unified window for all departments that is being established to facilitate the clearance of goods, and the adoption of a company that manages the advance system at each import, so that pre-registration is done before shipping the goods.
At a joint working meeting to develop and modernize customs work, control smuggling and raise the level of revenues in it, Jaber said that "the aim of these measures is to control and regulate the customs process within a real reform framework and not only by changing some employees from here and there."
In response to a question about the operational ability of"scanner" to detect containers? He said that the device "has a large capacity and the capacity of the scanner currently in Beirut does not exceed 40 containers per day, while the newer is able to detect about 60 containers per hour."
Jaber hoped that customs evasion would be significantly controlled, considering that "with all these measures there will be a big difference, and the control of customs smuggling will reflect positively on the financial imports of the state."
